Morning Brew – Monday, January 17: Christine Woods, Lisa Edelstein love lesbians, Aubrey O’Day talks “All About Aubrey”

Good morning! Welcome back to the Morning Brew. How I’ve missed you all.

I had a great time being the resident lesbian at TCA, and the best part is hearing from all of the actresses and writers/producers who are not only aware of AfterEllen.com, but professed their love for it. Christine Woods, for one, who played a lesbian on Flash Forward last year, said “It’s so good to meet you – I love that website!” Unfortunately, she told me there are no lesbians on her new show, Perfect Couples, but she thinks we’ll like it because “It’s honest, it’s funny, it’s sweet. If you’re not these people, it’s people you know – this is an in-law of yours, who go through the same heterosexual crap that other ones deal with.”

She tried to sell us on it, guys, so give her a chance, despite the fact it’s a pretty straight show.

Lisa Edelstein of House told me she knows all about AfterEllen. “I know about AfterEllen.com because they, for a long time, were the only source to find the kissing scene from Relativity. Like AfterEllen archived that s–t!”

That’s right – we will make sure your lesbian kiss is around forever and ever, and never forgotten about. It looks like it’s a good thing, too, because Lisa Edelstein is googling “my lesbian kiss on Relativity” and we’re the one delivering the goods.

So I just wanted to let you all know that you’re basically hanging out with TV’s hottest actresses every time you come to AfterEllen.com. It’s an added bonus.

OK, so let’s get into the rumor squashing and other things you come here for.

First, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are not living together, and are not dating, but Nicki will be the first to continue joking with the press about it.

“We’re not getting cosy. I mean, we’re not getting cosy yet. There is a possibility because she’s just like a bad ass. You never know. That would be like a crazy power couple right now.”

The two pop stars just worked together on their video for “Fly,” which means this rumor will probably disappear right before its premiere and then resurface. Rihanna has been known to grab Nicki’s ass in public, so it’s highly possible the video will be nothing less than flirtatious. Ladies and gents, that’s what we call a tease.

Kanye West’s bisexual ex-girlfriend Amber Rose was out to dinner with a friend (model Rosa Acosta) when she happened to kiss her in front of the cameras.

Rosa wrote on her website, “Can’t two beautiful friends go out to dinner without having every camera in LA show up?” Rosa, how long have you lived in LA for? The answer is no!

Amber, BTW, is working on her new reality show for VH1 called Behind Her Shades. Will wee see her dating women? Here’s hoping. Aubrey O’Day is another bisexual pop star with a reality show on the horizon. She stars in Oxygen’s All About Aubrey, and I asked her at TCA if we’ll see her trying to find Ms. Right.”I definitely explore every gender on my show. So all the bisexual women out there need to check it out. I have a hot little sauna scene with [my friend Krystal Bronson]. I believe love has no gender. I’m looking for my best friend!”

If she hasn’t mentioned the sauna scene, I probably would have been impressed.

The National Enquirer is reporting that Melissa Etheridge is dating her longtime BFF/Nurse Jackie scribe Linda Wallem. It looks like Melissa, like Aubrey, is also looking for her best friend!

If you want to listen to something sad but inspiring, check out NPR’s piece on “Pakistan’s Lesbians Live In Silence, Love In Secret.”

If you’ll be around Los Angeles next week, check out the premiere party for Cowgirl Up! at East/West. Wish I could be there!

Check out this hot new video from Amanda Palmer & the Young Punx. It’s a party (and somewhat NSFW).

R.I.P. Susannah York, the actress who starred in one of the first ever lesbian-themed films, The Killing of Sister George. She was 72.

We’ll have a full Golden Globes scoop for you today, and so much more. Seriously – more interviews with women you love, a new Lesbro and another Comics ‘N Things from Ariel Schrag. Don’t stray too far!

Tonight is huge for lesbian TV. It’s the premiere of Skins on MTV (10 p.m.), the return of Sara Rue as the lesbian Brenda on Rules of Engagement (CBS 8:30 p.m.), the debut of Being Human (Syfy 9 p.m.) and another new episode of Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family 8 p.m.). Also on today: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (check local listings) and The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.) (Thanks Roni!)
