Morning Brew – Mon. April 15: Tegan and Sara at Coachella, Sia working with Gwen Stefani and Miley Cyrus

Good morning!

If you’re looking for a guide to NYC’s Mayoral Candidates, you can see from this guide that Christine Quinn is the only woman and only lesbian.

Great news for the newly out and pregnant Jenna Wolfe! The Today Show star will host this year’s T.J. Martell Foundation for leukemia, cancer and AIDS Research Women of Influence Awards on May 7. The awards will honor “five outstanding women who have achieved tremendous goals in business while balancing work, home and health.”

Sia posted this photo of herself hanging out with No Doubt and Miley Cyrus and the caption was about it being “for a weird SNL skit.” I’m ready to watch this now and I hope twerking is involved.

My Latin Beauty‘s lesbian contestant Karina Hermosillo got a surprise on the show this week when her girlfriend showed up. They are freaking adorable. Thanks for keeping me up to date, Jazzmeane!

Check out this cool project called Girl on Girl from filmmaker Jodi Savitz.

Another documentary project in the works is called Truth. Be. Told and it’s all about queer black visionaries. It’s being developed for TV and interviewees include Emil Wilbekin (Editor at Large for Essence magazine) and writer Linda Villarosa.

A lesbian couple who won a dream wedding had to rescind the honor because one of the brides’ father has leukemia. :(

Tegan and Sara defied the desert’s harsh conditions and wore layers for their performance at Coachella over the weekend.

While there, they talked with Idolator about fun things like having seven songs on Grey’s Anatomy and watching Young and the Restless, just like my mom.

This Eyewitness News video interview with Shayna Goldsmicht, a lesbian from Capetown is a look at the current situation for gay women in South Africa. Thankfully the Triangle Project exists to try and help in this situation.

Out presenter Georgie Okell had a conversation about sexuality with TV star Ollie Locke on The Fox Problem this week.
