Morning Brew — Lindsay Lohan and Tina Fey take a selfie

Good morning, Brewbies. Trish Bendix is on her way to the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association Convention and Media Summit in Chicago, so I’ll be high-fiving you with Brew for the rest of the week. (For info about AfterEllen’s Chicago meet-up with Trish, check out yesterday’s Brew!)

The good folks over at Entertainment Weekly snagged Lindsey Lohan‘s selfie with Tina Fey before Lohan pulled it off her Instagram on Monday. They were hanging out for a photo shoot for EW‘s Mean Girls 10-year reunion issue, which hits stands on October 17.

Seeing them together kind of makes me think about Janis Ian saying it’s like seeing a dog walk around on its hind legs, but maybe they listened to some awesome music together. Who’s to say.

The A.V. Club is offering up an exclusive free track from Cameron Esposito called “Threesome Proposition” as she prepares for her “Same Sex Symbol Tour,” which kicks off in Nashville on September 3rd. She’s such a heartthrob. I’ll bet everyone of her shows sells out.

GLESN is set to honor Danny Moder, Julia Roberts, and Derek Hough at their annual Respect Awards in Los Angeles. According to Variety:

Moder and Roberts will receive the Humanitarian Award for their commitment to, and support of, philanthropic endeavors to causes like GLSEN, UNICEF, Heal the Bay, Stand Up to Cancer, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, and others. The two are also Emmy nominees this year for their work in HBO’s adaptation of “The Normal Heart,” which is set during the early days of the AIDS epidemic.
Last night’s Ask Ausiello column over at TVline featured a teensy bit of scoop about Portia de Rossi‘s upcoming guest arc on Scandal:
Question: Any details on Portia de Rossi’s Scandal character? -Paul Ausiello: I tried mightily to get Rhimes to spill the beans, but all she would divulge is that the Arrested Development vet is playing “a very formidable person.” Actually, that’s a pretty decent tease, considering how tight-lipped Rhimes can be. I’m putting that in the “win” column.
It would make my life if her character was “very formidable” enough to knock some sense into both Mellie and Liv about how their shared love is a petulant man-child who is exploiting one of the most powerful political positions on earth to act out his bratty little daddy issues. But that’s just me.

Being openly queer might be the key to getting accepted into advanced degree programs, according to a new piece by NPR, in which they explore MFA programs that reach out to candidates who are “other.”

Batwoman #34 hits comic shops today. I read it this morning and whoo, boy; it is a heartbreaker. It also finally explains the vampiric cover and book description for Batwoman: Futures End #1 that DC released a couple of months ago. (“Now a creature of the night, Batwoman turns against her former lover, Nocturna, in final, deadly conflict!”) In September, all DC titles will jump forward five years and tie into the New 52’s Future’s End timeline, where Brother Eye has taken over the world. What I’d love to see with a comic book time machine is an answer to the question: Will DC get its shit together and let its beloved lesbian couple finally tie the knot?

IndieWire is counting down the 13 LGBT actors who have been nominated for Emmys for playing LGBT characters. Four women made the list: Ellen DeGeneres, Angelina Jolie, Kate McKinnon, and Laverne Cox. Angelina Jolie is the only bisexual person to ever be nominated for playing a bisexual character.
