Morning Brew – Joan Jett and Margaret Cho talk lesbians

Good morning, and Happy Friday!

It looks like Hilarie Burton will be busy with her new gig on Hostages so she’s likely not to be back to stir up some shit on Grey’s.

16 & Pregnant star Ebony Jackson-Rendon is allegedly divorcing her baby daddy because she’s dating a former friend of hers named Judith. This might be an episode of Teen Mom I’d actually watch.

Of course the thing to do when you go see a musical is make out with a friend of yours for the camera. Reality stars!

In awesome news, Uzo Aduba has been upped to a regular for the second season of Orange is the New Black. More Crazy Eyes for everyone!

Joan Jett performed a new song called “Any Weather” on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. I swear she’s aging backwards.

Speaking of Ms. Jett, Margaret Cho talked with our brother site about how hot Joan and Kristen Stewart are:

[Kristen’s] like, ‘Look, it’s not my fault I’m hot. I don’t like it any more than you do.’ I was hanging out with her and Joan Jett at Joan Jett Day in LA and they’re like mother/daughter, even though they’re not actually related. They look so similar and their personalities are that sort of tomboy, really sweet, really cool. But both of them are my big crush and I just love Joan Jett. I love her music, I love her look, her attitude. She gave me a nice bracelet. I was really moved. So she’s my crush.
Then Joan and Margaret talked with “a lesbian camera” about how metal music is so lesbian.

During her time off from SNL this summer, Kate McKinnon has been in Austin filming an indie comedy called Intramural. You can help fund the finishing of the film.

When Broadway Talks returns in October, out actress Cherry Jones will be the first guest. Speaking of Cherry, she’s also in a new film called Days & Nights alongside Katie Homes and Alison Janney, and it’s amodern retelling of Anton Chekhov‘s The Seagull set in rural New England.”

Portia de Rossi will star in a new film called Now Add Honey that’s shooting in Melbourne. She’ll play the mom to a pop star (Lucy Fry) who comes back home after living the celebrity life.

Shay Mitchell is spotlighted on Just Jared this week, where she talked about Emily and Paige’s recent PLL friction:

I think there’s always trouble, especially with relationships in Rosewood. But I do have a lot of great scenes coming up with Lindsey [Shaw] and their whole arc takes a turn. I love scenes with Lindsey and I think her character is so important, especially with Emily and everything that she’s going through. Yes, she has her mom and yes, she has her group of friends. But she also needs that other person to be that ear she talks to, you know? Paige is there for Emily and we’ll be seeing some really good scenes between them.
Ilene Chaiken will be the showrunner of a new series called The Black Box. It’s about “a famed neuroscientist who seems to have it all, but struggles with mental illness — one of many secrets she keeps from her fiancĂ© and family.” Kelly Reilly is in the starring role and the show will air on ABC.

Samantha Ronson was in Chicago last week to DJ for Lollapalooza afterparties. Do you like her pink ‘do?

Sally Ride will receive a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. (F yeah!) The White House said of the astronaut in a press release:

Sally Ride was the first American female astronaut to travel to space. As a role model to generations of young women, she advocated passionately for science education, stood up for racial and gender equality in the classroom, and taught students from every background that there are no limits to what they can accomplish. Dr. Ride also served in several administrations as an advisor on space exploration.
