Morning Brew: Friday, Feb. 26

It’s Friday, folks!

There’s still hope for Ella the bisexual publicist to see some more screen time on the CW. According to the network’s president, Dawn Ostrof, Melrose Place isn’t done for — yet. “We hope Melrose Place picks up steam,” she told E! “We’re gonna air all the episodes in a row. We’ve made the show a little bit lighter, a little happier, a little brighter, and I think we’ve made some good creative changes. We’re going to see how the audience responds.” Well, we responded pretty well to Ella’s last make out session, so maybe some more of that will help the show. Just a suggestion.

Former ER lesbian Laura Innes (aka Dr. Kerry Weaver) has been cast on a new series on NBC called Event. She will play “the mysterious inmates’ leader at a secret facility.” Hmm, sounds like it has gay potential to me.

Don’t you think it would be hilarious if you had secret sources (aka friends) that told the world when you texted your ex and she ignored it? Hilarious, annoying — possibly maddening. Poor Lindsay Lohan — if she’s within 100 yards of Sam Ronson, the press decide what she’s thinking. Seriously, though — how do they know that “she wouldn’t leave” and “at the end of the night, you could tell she was waiting for Sam.” The same week, she was spotted acting “aloof.” Well, I suppose that’s what I can expect from a magazine that also reports on Jessica Alba‘s late-night burger snack. “Caught in the act!”

Women in Trouble came out on DVD this week. There’s a lesbian couple in the film (played by Rya Kihlstedt and Cameron Richardson) and also a bisexual character as well as a storyline about two strippers/friends that fall for one another. Why haven’t I seen this yet?

A new iPhone game, Valet Hustle, allows you to play with a lesbian character named Ren. Even more awesome? The creators, Factory Games, are donating a portion of the proceeds to the Human Right’s Campaign. That’s definitely a game worth 99 cents — and the cost of an iPhone if you don’t have one.

Alison Goldfrapp of the electro-pop duo Goldfrapp told the Times that she was surprised when the UK press outed her as a “mid-life lesbian” last year. Said Alison:

I don’t know why people would find it surprising. Everything we’ve ever done – the music, the looks, the shows – has all been quite ambiguous and undefinable, and that’s how I am. I don’t like to be defined by my sexuality, which swings wherever I like to swing. I’ve had lovely, long relationships with men as well. I just happen to be in a relationship with a lady at the moment. I don’t like to be pigeonholed in my life or my music either. The best policy seems to be to go with what feels right, so I do.

Allison’s partner is film editor Lisa Gunning, whose most famous work is the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, in which Goldfrapp contributed to the music score.

And by the way, Goldfrapp’s music is out of control awesome. Welcome to the club, Alison, from AfterEllen.com.

FEED creator Mel Robertson has announced that Nicole Pacent (Anyone But Me) will star in her new soccer film Queens of the World. Also on board: Maggie Connor, Elizabeth Keener and Nikki Caster (Cherry Bomb). How lesbian will the movie be? So far, it’s looking pretty good.

Do you have some children that need some, uh, help? Supernanny is looking for gay couples. This might not be the kind of visibility we love, but hey, having some crazed kids is normal, right? Mombians?

One last thing: We hope our resident Lesbian Love-rs Jessica Clark and Lacey Stone have an exceptionally wonderful wedding this weekend. Get it, girls.

See you Monday!
