Beth Ditto has released a new video for her single “I Wrote the Book,” which is off her upcoming EP, out March 8. She’s unabashedly going after that Madonna-esque “Justify My Love” look, but with gay dancers and a bubble bath.
Facebook has now added “in a domestic partnership” and “in a civil union” to its relationship status options. Apparently those didn’t fit so well under “it’s complicated.”
Lily Loveless is appearing in an episode of Bedlam, and Heather Hogan had this to say about the trailer she sent me: “Get out of that dude’s bed, Lily!”
Viva Riva!, a crime thriller based in the Congo, played at Berlinale last week, and it has two lesbian characters. Marlene Longage plays the Commandant and has a lesbian lover, Malou. Sounds like a lesbian power couple to me.
Out New York Council Speaker Christine Quinn was treated like a celeb at Fashion Week when she attended Elle Tahari‘s show and sat front row.
Rosie O’Donnell has strong feelings about the character of Lauren (played by Ashley Fink) on Glee. She told Access this week:
I have to believe that [Glee co-creators] Ryan [Murphy] and Brad [Falchuk] have something up their sleeve and that [Lauren] can really sing because “I Know What Boys Like” last night was not what I was expecting. I was expecting a whole Shrek-like reveal where [Puck, played by Mark Salling] becomes Fiona-ish.
I just was like, “Where’s the Susan Boyle moment? She’s gonna belt it out of the park!” and then she did, ‘I know what boys like, I know what guys want’?” I was like, ‘I want more than this.
But she also thinks that Ashley is unlikable to begin with.
Why didn’t they get a pretty heavy girl? They should’ve gotten someone beautiful like Brooke Elliot. I’m like, “Every story deserves to be told. And the way that you’re relating to it means that it’s doing its job. It’s evoking a lot of emotion inside of you.”
And apparently that emotion is “That fat girl isn’t pretty enough to be on TV.” Yikes.
Speaking of Rosie, here’s a clip from her appearance on The Joy Behar Show last night where she says she’s still gay.
Jennifer Beals told People she turned down the offer to compete on Dancing With the Stars because she is “not a dancer.” I have a feeling everyone who has seen Flashdance or the Tina tango she did on The L Word would strongly disagree.
Confession: I watched the entire Britney Spears‘ music video for “Hold it Against Me” because I thought she might make out with herself like Pink did in her video for “Sober.” Instead, she just beat herself up, like Mariah Carey in “Heartbreaker.”
Today in Lesbianish TV: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (check local listings), Bringing Home Baby (Discovery Fit & Health 11 a.m.), The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), Rosie O’Donnell on Who Do You Think You Are? (NBC 8 p.m.), The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m.), Portlandia (IFC 10:30 p.m.), Lily Tomlin on Craig Ferguson (CBS 1 a.m.) (Thanks Roni!)
Have a fabulous weekend.
