Some exciting TV scoop, guys. Just as we lose another lesbian on regular scheduled programming, we have the promise of some new ones. First, ABC is adapting Canadian show Being Erica, aka the show responsible for Anna Silk playing a lesbian. Our suggestion for ABC: Make it even gayer than the Canadian version, and you win.
Secondly, Liz Feldman is working on a pilot for NBC and it’s centered around a lesbian couple and their children’s sperm donor. It’s called A Lot Like Us, and Liz tells us she’s just turned in the first draft and she’s psyched about it. Here’s what else she said:
Over the next six weeks or so, NBC will decide if they want to produce the pilot. I was so amazed and proud of them for actually approaching me with the idea to center the show around an expectant lesbian couple. That was their idea and I’m just grateful I got to write it.
So will we see her on the show?
I am only attached to the show as a writer and producer. The goal is to get some actual famous ladies to star in this thing! But who knows, if this turns into a series, I’m sure I’ll make an appearance. I play a very convincing lesbian.
Mental casting begins now!
The Dinah has announced their first big performer for this year’s festivities and it’s Chely Wright. The country singer will be performing live and hosting a book signing at a pool party. Don’t get your book wet!
AE reader broadstairs clued us into this new Thai film about lesbians, which she says is the first one ever. Translated, the title is Come On Sweet, and follows lesbians Pie (Aom Sucharat) and Jane (Dew Arisara), two ex-roommates dealing with romantic situations. (Duh!) The trailer has convinced me I should move to Thailand because Aom Sucharat is foxy.
Come On Sweet just opened in Thailand and will release on DVD this spring. Check out the Facebook page for more information.
For all of you hoping to see more Stamie on the second season of The Real L Word, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It looks like she won’t be returning, but it doesn’t mean Tracy won’t. That should be fun for the editors!
Italian TV channel owner Silvio Berlusconi is an accidental lesbian advocate, in my opinion. He’s refused to air a car commercial that has some females heading to a bedroom together. But perhaps he’s just offended by the ending, like I am.
Right, she went through all that to borrow your top. Whoever’s party that was, put that broad on the “do not invite” list next time around.
The European Handball Championship is underway in Denmark and Norway, and lesbian players Rikke Skov and Mette Melgaard are doing their best to handle balls. Rikke is just recovering from an injury, which has kept her on the sidelines. (Thanks to Jannie for the tip!)
