Good morning! It’s Friday, get happy!
Congrats to the U.S. Women’s basketball team for winning their semi-final game against Australia yesterday and to the soccer team for taking the gold. Here’s a magic moment between Megan Rapinoe and girlfriend Sarah Walsh, sharing a gold-medal meal. How adorable is it that Sarah is wearing Megan’s jersey?

While we’re on the topic, ESPN wonders why openly gay athletes are still low in numbers. I do, too, because a lot of searches coming to AfterEllen.com lately are wondering if certain Olympians are gay. Inquiring minds need to know!
Rutina Wesley went on The Talk yesterday to discuss playing Tara on True Blood and how her grandma supports even her racy sex scenes.
More Sapphic lesbian sex, we say. Grandma’s into it!
Rumor has it Jennifer Lopez and her boyfriend Casper Smart got into a huge fight over her upcoming lesbian show for ABC Family. JLo just won’t listen to his ideas. While I’m sure this is just gossip, I wouldn’t blame her. I mean, she’s been working in the business as long as Casper’s been alive. She was a Fly Girl before he was in high school!
OK, I’m sold: Batgirl is a gay icon.
I love this New Yorker piece about being out and proud in Uganda. I dare you to read it and not well up with pride.
Perhaps it fills you with so much pride you want to share it on TV. MTV is casting for another It Gets Better special and they are looking for people “who appear to be 15-25, and want to share their stories and experiences about growing up LGBT.” Do it!
Check out the (kinda NSFW) book trailer for Kung Fu Lesbian by Dan Curry. It’s hilarious!
Does it make you want to read the book though? I’d kind of rather see the movie. (Did you recognize out actors Dalila Ali Rajah (Cherry Bomb) and Jackie Monahan kicking ass and making out in the clip?)
