Morning Brew – Ellen’s “One Big Happy” picked up at NBC

Good morning!

Ellen DeGeneres’s new lesbian-inclusive comedy has been picked up at NBC. Ellen is executive producer of One Big Happy, while Liz Feldman is writing the show. It’s set to air mid-season, so we’ll be waiting a little bit longer to see Elisha Cuthbert get gay and pregnant.

While we’re talking Ellen, how hot did she and Portia look at a party for Arianna Huffington‘s Thrive over the weekend?

Also at NBC, Parenthood will get one final season. Hopefully when it comes back, Haddie is still a lesbian.

Meanwhile, The Crazy Ones and Bad Teacher have been cancelled.

Out writer Nahnatchka Khan’s Fresh off the Boat was picked up by ABC, with the pilot directed by Lynn Shelton.

Victoria Cartagena only appears briefly as Renee Montoya in the Gotham pilot, but she has been upped to a series regular. F yeah lesbians in Gotham City!

A lesbian mom writes about her experience staying at home to raise her children.

Australia’s new season of The Voice has a contestant named Jess Berney who was promoted by the show as being “the most surprising of them all.” Apparently this was based on her appearance.

Ricky Martin’s face, though.

Can we just stop using the word “lesbian” as an insult altogether please?

Charlize Theron hosted SNL this week and appeared in this deleted sketch with Kate McKinnon.

Ellen Page donned a suit for the premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past in LA this weekend.
