Morning Brew – Callie and Arizona’s couple survival rate is “50/50”

Good morning!

Shonda Rimes has some interesting news for you, Calzona fans. She tells EW:

“I’ll be honest with you and say that there is literally a 50/50 chance that they’ll be together or apart, and I have not figured it out yet. That is the other big storyline of the season for us. We really spent a lot of time in the writers’ room mapping it out and talking about it. There are two parallel relationships: Meredith and Derek’s relationship and Callie and Arizona’s relationship. Meredith’s journey and Callie’s journey are two big journeys that we really want to look at this season as we’re telling these stories.”

The reality is happy couples are boring to watch on TV sometimes. Also, lesbian relationships are fucked up too!

Sara Ramirez joined other ABC stars like Portia de Rossi for a network party this weekend.

Out writer/producer Ali Adler is back on TV with another exciting project. The former Glee writer and co-creator of The New Normal will be writing the new Supergirl TV series for CBS. Ali will be working with Greg Berlanti (Arrow) and Sarah Schechter (no relation to Jenny). In case you aren’t familiar with the DC Comics character, Supergirl is:

…Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton, but escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin Superman. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Mary Lambert went on the Elvis Duran show recently where she talked about the Grammys and her girlfriend, Michelle Chamuel.

Guinevere Turner will be adapting Ed Sanders’ 1971 book The Family for the big screen. The book detailed convicted murderer Charles Manson’s life up until 1969, the year he performed his unspeakable crimes, which gained him fans and followers, especially of the female variety. Guinevere told Deadline:

“It’s exciting to explore the psychology of the young women who followed Manson. What makes a 19-year-old in 1968 follow a man to the extreme of killing innocent people for him? We all know how it ends – people die and people go to jail – but how did it get to that?”

It’s basically a miracle no one was murdered in Go Fish.

It sounds like WWE likes a little bit of Sapphic sexual tension between some of its female stars.

The Des Moines Register has a great video piece on Vivian Boyack and Nonie Dubes, who married after 72 years together.

Amber Heard will appear in Magic Mike XXL. In not so great news, her phone is among those hacked in the latest celebrity nude pic scandal.

PopSugar has a gallery of the new official characters posters for American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Erica Mena has moved on from ex-girlfriend Cyn and is now engaged to Bow Wow – the real one, not Dee Pimpin.

Out artist Live Hart is raising funds to complete her new album.

I’m sad to report the passing of Linda Griffiths, who starred in the early lesbian film Lianna. The actress and playwright died of cancer at the age of 60. If you want to celebrate her, Lianna is available on Netflix. (Thanks for the tip, Andrea!)
