Morning Brew – Beyoncé talks equality, dons a suit for “Out”

Good morning!

Let’s start with some sex! (Do I have your attention?) OK well firstly, Slate says porn for lesbians is uninspiring. Maybe you have some suggestions for her.

On the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere, we met Ellaria Sand, the bisexual wife of Oberyn Martell, who is also into swinging both ways. We found out immediately that Ellaria is not interested in shy girls (“Timid bores me.”), instead preferring those that can touch their toe to the back of their head. (Seriously.) She’s played by Indira Varma, and I hope to see much more of her.

Debbie Harry has come out as bisexual as she has had relationships with women in the past. She says that women are “more sensual,” so, yay! I’m ready for the tell-all memoir now. Blondie was all the rage during one of the hottest sexy times in NYC.

I am really amazed that the person who directed this version of lesbian strangers kissing was able to find gay women who didn’t know each other. It’s real cute.

South Carolina Senator Mike Fair forced the University of South Carolina Upstate to cancel a lesbian-themed play called How to Be a Lesbian in 10 Days or Less. The writer/star/creator Butchy McDyke responded on Youtube.

Dear Mike Fair, live up to your name. Also I doubt any straight girls were really going to see the play and dyke out after. Just saying.

Beyoncé is in Out magazine this month, where she says she loves that LGBT people connect with her music.

While I am definitely conscious of all the different types of people who listen to my music, I really set out to make the most personal, honest, and best album I could make. I needed to free myself from the pressures and expectations of what I thought I should say or be, and just speak from the heart. Being that I am a woman in a male-dominated society, the feminist mentality rang true to me and became a way to personalize that struggle…But what I’m really referring to, and hoping for, is human rights and equality, not just that between a woman and a man. So I’m very happy if my words can ever inspire or empower someone who considers themselves an oppressed minority…We are all the same and we all want the same things: the right to be happy, to be just who we want to be and to love who we want to love.

This is why Bey is one of my femme idols. Also I feel like going to see her live is probably more likely to make girls go home and get gay than going to see a play. Just saying.

PopMatters writes about LGBT-themed marketing, and how Ellen DeGeneres is winning.

Jillian Michaels is rumored to be quitting The Biggest Loser again. A source says she doesn’t like how the show treats the contestants.

What happens at a lesbian sleepover? Our own AE writer Chloe writes about it for Playboy. At my sleepovers, I make my friends watch YouTube videos and play “Would You Rather,” but that’s just me.

Out country singer Brandy Clark has a new song with Miranda Lambert on her upcoming album Platinum. The two co-wrote “Two Rings Shy.” You can hear her do some acoustic performing over on Perez Hilton, too.

Love and Hip Hop New York star Tahiry Jose has a crush on Nicki Minaj.
