Morning Brew – Amy Poehler and Tina Fey play sisters in Paula Pell’s “The Nest”

Good morning! Is it really Wednesday already?

Want to hear some really great news? Amy Poehler will play Tina Fey’s sister in the upcoming film The Nest. Out writer Paula Pell penned the script based on her own life and relationship with her sister, which she told us about in a recent interview.

“It’s really really close to my heart because it’s about me and my sister and it’s about two sisters that come home to see that their parents are selling their childhood home so they have one last weekend in the childhood bedroom and one last weekend to have this rip-shit high school-style party and do all the things they didn’t get to do. One used to be the wild ass and one never was the wild ass ever and never made out in her house and never had the romance and all that in her home when she was young. Each are trying to get things from the weekend that they need and it’s real fun, I think, for some great comedy actors and I’m hoping to have it happen.”

And now it’s all happening!

Miley Cyrus talks with Tavi Gevinson about feminism in the new issue of Elle, which includes some discussion on gay fans.

I have guys and girls that come out, and they’re like, “The only reason I’m able to admit that I’m gay is because you’ve made me feel like that’s okay.” That is so intense, because that is a part of this generation-it wasn’t always accepted-and I feel like I am a big part of that change. Or they know that I’ve struggled with depression, and that helped them get over theirs. That gives me a big purpose-a reason to wake up in the morning that’s bigger than to put on my fucking feathers and my little outfits.

Sexually ambiguous duo La Roux are finally releasing another album. Trouble in Paradise will come out July 7 in the U.S., and the following day in the UK.

Rumor has it Joan Jett will front Nirvana at their upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. I fully support this.

Vanity Fair has an excerpt from Carol Leifer’s new memoir.

Looking for some more Cosima intel before Season 2 of Orphan Black kicks off? Here’s what creator Graeme Manson told EW:

Being a scientist, Cosima is going to take the lead, with Delphine, in diagnosing and treating her own illness. And it’s hard on her. She’s such a life-affirming character to be facing her own mortality – in one sense that’s really heartbreaking. In another sense, she’s the character to do it. As my favorite clone, it’s very difficult to put Cosima in that position, facing her own mortality. On the other hand, she digs down deep and she’s a brave girl. Perhaps as brave as Sarah in her own way. I think bravery might be one of the genetic traits they do share. I don’t know how you encode for that, but it’s nature. They’re all brave and they’re all rash. But Cosima is going to have to make a few deals with the Devil to get to the bottom of her own biology and illness and step in to the belly of the beast.

But does she have time to get it on with her French lover? That’s all I need to know.

Jessie J has more to say about all the “hate” she’s receiving on Twitter since un-coming out as bisexual. It really seems to be digging her into a deeper hole.

Brittney Griner has a new book out (review and interviews forthcoming!) and in it, she discusses how she was bullied growing up. She’s launched a new anti-bullying campaign called BG: BU which is also an app. The memoir, In My Skin, is a very in-depth look at Brittney’s life thusfar, and I think you’ll all really enjoy it. While you’re waiting for our coverage, check out her interview with Elixher and this video with ESPN.

Out director Lisa Cholodenko has been named guest director of the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Kate McKinnon has a small part in the comedy Intramural, premiering at Tribeca this week.

Sia has a beautiful new lyric video for her song “Chandelier.”

Director Lukas Moodysson (Fucking Amal) has a new film called We Are the Best and it’s about some young queer punks. F yeah.
