New Music Tuesday: 6-8-2010

Let’s just dive in to New Music Tuesday head first!

Christina AguileraBionic (Sony Music)

Cancel all my calls today, I’ll be spending the rest of the week doing my booty dancing in my work chair while listening to the latest from Xtina. I’m not sure how this is possible but it’s obvious to me that Ms. Aguilera read my diary and asked many of my favorite artists to collaborate with her on this latest masterpiece. Twenty-four jams, no less, featuring the likes of Nikki Minaj, Sia, Le Tigre, Peaches, Ladytron, Santigold, M.I.A. and Linda Perry.

Oddly enough, my least favorite track is “I Hate Boys.” My favorites are the ones most influenced by the electroclash scene. “Elastic Love” might be the newest song to get me pumped for going out. It screams Siouxsie Sioux. The Peaches/Le Tigre jam session on “My Girls” is nothing but a good time. What you can expect is sensational vocals, electro beats worthy of an all out hipster fist pumping session and dirty sex oozing from your earphones. Mark my words, this will end up on my top ten albums list for 2010.

JewelSweet and Wild (Valory Music Co.)

Sorry Jewel, you just don’t hold a candle today. You’ll always have a place in my heart — and “Who Will Save Your Soul” was the first song I ever sang alone in front of people (with my eyes closed tightly). For those who are into country, I’m sure they’ll prefer your album to Christina’s, so yay for you!

Grace Potter & The NocturnalsGrace Potter & The Nocturnals (Hollywood Records)

You know, it’s just not fair to anyone else being written up today because all I want to do is spend my time listening to Bionic. For those of you not interested in the heavily produced electronic thrusting, Grace and her crew might be an appropriate alternative; soft rock with a bluesy voice and hints of Joan Osbourne and Dusty Springfield.

That’s about it this week according to my iTunes — there are some phenomenal honorable mentions worthy of checking out. Gotta run and give blood before I play Bionic for the tenth time today. Have a snazzy Tuesday.

Honorable Mentions: K’Naan, Deer Tick, Tokyo Police Club, Hot Hot Heat, Ratatat, Teenage Fanclub and Blitzen Trapper.
