Hear Here: Your Monday Mixtape Featuring Delilah, Chew Lips, LP’s New Video & More

Since I know it is often difficult to bounce back from the weekend and “enjoy” a Monday, I thought perhaps sharing some music with you on a more frequent basis would help ease the pain of the work week. After all, musicians don’t need to wait for an entire album to be ready in order to drop a boatload of singles and remixes. And with the digital age, you don’t have to worry about your cassingle collection getting out of hand like the one that took over my small bedroom back in 1992 ultimately qualifying me to be a hoarder. So, let’s get to the tunes.

Did I ever tell you how much I fell in love with the Dum Dum Girls at Lollapalooza this summer? Yes, I did but I wanted to make sure you are paying attention. To further give you incentive, how about a sweet stream and download of their slow(ish) jam, “Lord Knows”?

OMBRE is the musical collaboration of Helado Negro and Julianna Barwick and their music is soothing and romantic in a Mediterranean vacation kind of way. Stream and download their song, “Tormentas,” below.

After checking the comments section of my New Music Tuesday post, I noticed a “shameless self-promotion” plug from reader, TheLaw, about her band, Cranky & The Law. So, not only did she take the guess work out of me figuring out which member of the band she is – they also happen to sound pretty darn good! Their sound is fun, folky, happy and with a bit of a 60s girl band vibe sneaking through their sound kind of like when someone with a hidden, but adorable, Southern accent has a few drinks and suddenly slips back into their natural drawl.

Nelly Furtado is pretty much as cute as ever and has some extra M.I.A. swagger on her new single, “Parking Lot.” I mean, I can’t lie, I think it’s pretty hot and parts of it seem to remind me of my boo Cazwell’sIce Cream Truck.”

Chew Lips seems to always be a favorite up in this hizzy so I thought I’d drop this hot remix of “Hurricane (Pandr Eyes Remix)” right here.

I was first introduced to Delilah’s gorgeous voice by one of my favorite readers, Adri, and thanks to her I’ve been keeping my eye out for anything she drops. So, here’s a remix of her new single, “Shades of Grey.”

And finally, it’s no secret that my love for the high-pitched, soul-drenched voice of out singer, LP, runs far and deep and even into the wild. She’s currently putting out a video series of ukulele covers recorded live from whatever location they happen to be recorded in. Her cover of The Mars Volta’s “The Widow” is the second video in the series and it’s a good one.
