The actress was listed as No. 13 last year, 56 the year before, and 21 the year before that. In December, she came out. And now she’s nowhere on the list.
Now, I’m not saying the predominantly straight male editors of Maxim omitted her on purpose, or because of her sexuality, but that coupled with the fact that no other openly lesbian women are included, does make me wonder.
To be fair to Maxim, they have included a small handful of bisexual women:
True Blood star Anna Paquin is No. 68.
My girlfriend Lindsay Lohan is No. 38.
Vampire queen Evan Rachel Wood is No. 31.
And surprise! Megan Fox is No. 17.
While a range of sexualities may not be expected in a men’s magazine, there’s also surprisingly few women of color on the Maxim Hot 100. Nicki Minaj, Ciara and Jamie Chung are among a small handful of the pretty white, blond and busty special issue.
Luckily for you guys, a smarter, more inclusive list comes out May 23. You know, the AfterEllen.com Hot 100. Whew!
