“Lost Girl” SnapCap (2.08): It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a Super Succubus

You know how this season started off slowly? Well, it’s cooking with Super Succubus powers now. Yowza. Bo is called on to investigate the case of the missing body of a good friend of Trick’s deceased husband. Nice to know Bo isn’t the only gay in the Fae-borhood. Speaking of significant others, Bo also gets to meet Lauren’s pod-friend Nadia. Nothing says awkward like meeting your possible girlfriend’s girlfriend in a coma. I wonder if they make a greeting card for that.

AFTERELLEN BAIT

Look, it doesn’t get much more lesbian than having your new maybe girlfriend meet your old maybe still girlfriend. But, we all knew it had to happen because as Lauren says, “Look, if somebody that I slept with and care about told me that they had a girlfriend in a coma trapped inside a top-secret facility run by a society of uber-humanoids called the Fae, I’d think it was a blow off.” This episode brought the feelings, the badass and the hot.

Oh, and Kenzi dances with a girl. All in all, a perfectly baited hook.

FEELINGS, FEELINGS, FEELINGS

Strip away the supernatural and super cannibal, and this episode was just a big ball of Lesbian Feelings. Bo is trying to be the bigger person for Lauren by meeting Nadia. Lauren is wrestling with her feelings for Bo, while still having feelings for Nadia. Neither one knows how to define their relationship. Neither one is ready to let it go. Neither one knowing what is next.

And while this episode had both the Grand Rage-Induced Romantic Gesture and A Big Emotion-Laden Kiss, I think the state of Bo and Lauren’s relationship can best be summed up with their small exchange in Bo’s place. There’s so much tenderness and unspoken emotion as Lauren says, “Things have really been bleak for me these past few years. And I don’t know what I would do without — your friendship.”

And then there was that lipstick blot. The way Lauren refuses to let her big, beautiful, brown eyes break contact with Bo’s speaks volumes. Zoie Palmer somehow manages to look even more gorgeous in this scene, which I’m pretty sure defies the laws of physics, attractiveness and fairness given how gorgeous she already looks.

DOCCUBUS ACTION

Don’t make Bo angry, you wouldn’t like how she sucks the chi out of everyone in the room when she’s angry. They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but after this past episode I would like to amend that to hell hath no fury like a succubus watching her maybe girlfriend get threatened with certain death. When the Lich shoots Bo in an attempt to get her to feed off Lauren, and when she refuses puts the knife to Lauren’s throat instead, you knew something big was going to happen. But I never expected blue-eyed Bo to Succu-Hulk out the way she did. It’s one of the most impressive and frightening grand romantic gestures I’ve seen. Also, how sexy was that little lip lick Bo did before her big, um, feast?

And then, oh heavens, then there was the kiss. Lauren is filled with equal parts indignation that someone would curse Nadia and lust that Bo has just saved her life. Bo asks what we’re all asking, “We’re one step closer to getting Nadia back to you. That’s good, right?” And Lauren honestly doesn’t know the answer. So instead she whips around and kisses Bo — and kisses her hard. I think that’s going to be my new way of answering all unanswerable questions: Just kiss Bo.

ACTION ACTION

It seems so secondary to talk about the other storylines, but if we must we must. The night’s creepy was brought by an ancient Egyptian Fae known as the Lich, who cheats death by eating flesh and feeding his mind. It’s a bit like The Picture of Dorian Gray, but with dead bodies as canvas. The funny, in turn, was brought instead by our favorite sidekicks Kenzi and Hale. And shippers of the pairing got an eyeful, along with Kenzi, when Hale took off his shirt to expose what appeared to be a 12-pack. Sheesh, I’m gay and that sort of worked on me.

But, by far the night’s most intriguing non-Doccubus related development was Bo’s Super Succubus awakening. After chi-sucking an entire room, a glowing Bo declared: “I could be more powerful than all other Fae. Everyone would kneel at my feet. There would be no more Dark and no more Light. There would be only me.” I think Lauren’s face says it all here, and what it’s saying is “Holy crap!”

KENZISM OF THE WEEK

“Who doesn’t drink coffee? I mean, it’s just coffee. You have it with breakfast or when you’re sitting in a cafĂ© pretending to write a novel.”

BOOBS O’CLOCK O’ THE WEEK

Just a bit of boob and a whole lot of blue-eyed o’clock this week.

Well, now was that an episode or was that an episode? Action, emotion, humor, scares and a Super Succubus. It almost makes a person want to kiss everyone in Canada on the lips, eh.
