“Lost Girl” renewed for a fifth Faetastic season

Happy Faes are here again. Lost Girl has been renewed for a fifth season by its Canadian network, Showcase. The series will return for another 13-episode season, meaning Bo is going to have a chance to storm the gates of Valhalla after all.

The new season will begin production in the spring and is set to air in fall 2014. While the wait to find out about renewal had us worried, the show has been a rating powerhouse for Showcase. Also, I don’t think they wanted to deal with the lesbian fandom outrage at the prospect of being deprived of their weekly doses of Anna Silk, Zoie Palmer, Rachel Skarsten, et al.

What do we know about Season 5 so far? Not much. According to Showcase, Silk, Palmer, Skarsten, Kris Holden-Ried, Rick Howland, Paul Amos and Emmanuelle Vaugier will all be back. No word on [SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WATCHING THE U.S. SYFY BROADCAST] whether Ksenia Solo will return yet. Sniffle. But I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen the last of that Lil Mama.

Series executive producer and showrunner Emily Andras told TV Guide Canada she was “thrilled” with the renewal and that there are “so many incredible stories left to tell about Bo and her friends, and we know you, the fans, are eager to hear them!”

So now, let’s speculate wildly about what those incredible stories will be. [SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE FINALE. OTHERWISE, THESE ARE JUST TOTAL GUESSES, YO.] Clearly, Bo will be heading to Valhalla this season to retrieve Kenzi. There’s no way this show loses its heart forever. Lost Girl: Breaking into Heaven will probably involve a major plotline for our Valkyrie, Tamsin. Then there’s that mysterious Hell Shoe. Also, are Bo and Lauren a couple again or what?

I mean, she is wearing Lauren’s Magical Vagina Special Lady Friends Labrys necklace, after all.

So, thoughts on the renewal? Hopes for the new season?
