Lesbian Halloween 2009 Part 1: Screams on Screen

The Shining (1980) was another popular favorite, for various reasons.

Comedian Bridget McManus (Brunch With Bridget) told us, “The Shining. I hate horror movies but that film is a masterpiece. No one can bitch about having a bad parent when compared to Jack Nicholson’s character Jack Torrance.”

Dara Nai was creeped out by the haircuts: “I don’t know if I have one all-time favorite, but I love The Shining. Kids with bowl haircuts are always disturbing, but the ones who talk to their fingers are insanely terrifying. It’s also a cautionary tale about what can happen when you choose to spend that much time alone with your family.”

Butch Jamie filmmaker Michelle Ehlen’s favorite lesbian moment also happens to include the series in the mix: “Hands down, Ripley in Aliens. Sigourney Weaver’s character in Aliens (the second in the series) was hot! Her best line, ‘Get away from her you bitch!’ is a classic. A buff, sweaty, gun-toting, Sigourney Weaver … hot!”

Similarly, filmmaker Ellen Siedler (And Then Came Lola) had this to say: “As for favorite ‘lesbian’ horror film moment, well, what can one say except for ‘Ripley!’  In Aliens she was such a bad-ass ’nuff said.”
