The Internet has deemed Kristen Stewart a lesbian

Since the beginning of April, gossip rags have been spinning rumors that Kristen Stewart was spotted making face with her longtime friend Alicia Cargile, and that the two are now allegedly dating. Popdust reported they were seen down in Palm Springs for a “wild girls-only” weekend in February, apparently giggling and kissing and drinking a bottle of champagne before heading off to the privacy of their room. Since then, the tabloid story has evolved and expanded across the internet – Star magazine poins out the two have been swapping clothes as they trek around Hollywood looking extra cozy.

But, is this really happening?

Though Kristen Stewart hasn’t officially made any statements about the status of her relationship yet, and we can’t say for sure if this rumor has any truth to it or not, it would seem her possible lesbian romance is widely welcomed – I mean, raise your hand if your gaydar went off five years ago. Whether you call yourself a Krisbian, a straight girl with a girl crush, or you just can’t stop thinking about K-Stew as Joan Jett in The Runaways, let’s all take a moment to admit we’ve thought this through. (Frankly, I could take a few moments to “think” some scenes from that movie through…)

Considering the glossy, teeny bop fandom that surrounded the Twilight saga and her secret/not-so-secret relationship with Robert Pattinson, I, for one, can’t say I was deeply saddened when Kristen and Robert broke things off. Maybe I could convince my friends to watch other Kristen movies, and not just base their opinions on “the vampire movies by that Mormon author.” Kristen is one of the most misunderstood, babeliest of babes in the entertainment biz, and it was clear from the start of her career that she really just wanted to keep her private life private, and if you think she has bitch face on, it’s because she’s a fierce bad ass – why act like another demure starlet? On April 28, another news outlet, Showbiz Spy, made mention that “sources close to Kristen” report she’s amused by the lez relationship rumors, explaining that if she was gay, she wouldn’t be hiding it, as it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Yeah, I hear that – but for the girl who likes to keep her relationships on the down-low, “hiding” her relationship wouldn’t make me think she’s ashamed of her sexuality, she just isn’t the actress at the front of the line to catapult herself into the spotlight. K-Stew has never been a fan of paparazzi, so, surely, announcing anything right now, alongside her new Chanel campaign and the films she has on tap: Camp X-Ray, Clouds of Sils Maria and Still Alice, would mean everyone wants a piece of her. And that’s just not K-Stew’s style.

Kristen Stewart has often been labeled one of the “most-hated celebrities in Hollywood,” news outlets constantly picking her at slouchy attitude. But, in my book, that’s something that gives her automatic cool points. It’s important to pay some respect to the girl who isn’t afraid to be different from the pack. While some people might say the rumors of her sexuality began with her Chuck Taylors and her snap-back hats, her androgynous look when starring alongside Jodie Foster in Panic Room, her rad Joan Jett mullet, or the way she kisses someone onscreen, make no mistake that, gay, straight, or bisexual, Kristen is and can be whoever she wants to be. I support whomever she’s dating, so long as they treat my number one right.
