Last night, Logo (AfterEllen.com’s parent company) aired its 2011 NewNowNext Awards, a show which aims to discover today what will be trending next year. It’s not a conventional award show, which you might have already figured out if you’ve had a look at some of the categories, which include “Best Show You¹re Not Watching,” “The OMFG New Media Award” and “Most Addictive Reality Star,” among others.
The show was hosted by James Van Der Beek, who playfully embraced any assumption we might have about him being out of his element. For his trouble, he picked up the “#zOMG Internet Award” for his JamesVanDerMemes.com website. He shared that award with writer/actress Carrie Fisher, who was also rightfully acknowledged for her frequently amazing Tweets (@CarrieFFisher).
This year, some of the winners of note included Bridesmaids (“Next Must See Movie”), Oh Land (“Brink of Fame Artist”) and Pretty Little Liars (“TV You Betta Watch” category).
