The BBC by now should have had a decent lesbian on one of its flagship programmes like Eastenders, and, of course, we should be represented across a wider remit of programming than we currently are, but if Jeremy Hunt gets his way and the license fee is slashed over the next few years, it is unlikely that someone like Rupert Murdoch is waiting in the wings for the chance to make Anne Lister Part 2. The fact is — the BBC is still the best broadcaster in the world. Like a long-term relationship, it’s something we might take for granted but would be heartbroken if it were taken away.
So, for-crying-out-loud, shave your legs, buy the Beeb some flowers and remind yourselves of the moments that it made you feel a little hot under the collar. Below are a view of our favorites:
3) Imagine Me & You (BBC Films)
6) The Secret Diaries Of Miss Anne Lister
7) Lip Service (coming soon!)
