“Glee” gives us a first look at the Season 4 cast, minus big players

Have you seen the new official Glee season 4 cast posters? Of course you have, you’re a Gleek! But on the off chance you haven’t, His Royal Gleeness himself Ryan Murphy has released yet another taste of what’s to come via his Twitter feed.

The first features Rachel, getting a little less than TLC from the NYC in the form of her new NYADA dance instructor (played by Kate Hudson). The second is the first full cast photo for season 4. Now, I say full cast photo, but as we can all tell there are a few folks missing. See if you can spot them in an elaborate game I call Make Fabray Fans Furious. Yep, missing are Quinn, Sugar, Emma, Beiste and The Glee Project Season 1 winners Joe and Rory. But before you take up angry pitchforks and torches and run to Ryan Murphy’s house screaming “Faberry now! Faberry Forever!” take heart. Mr. Murphy tweeted this shortly after releasing the posters:

Oh, whew! Ryan Murphy has “great plans for Quinn.” I am so relieved. I’m so. Um. Yeah. I think this tweet by TV critic Daniel Fienberg says it all.

What the new cast photo does show are some of the new additions to the Glee circus. Those include Jacob Artist as Jake Puckerman, Noah Puck’s half-brother, and Dean Geyer as Brody Weston, an upperclassman at NYADA. There are also two new girls in the mix: Becca Tobin as Kitty, a new Cheerio, and Melissa Benoist as Marley, who appears to be positioned to be the new Rachel. The cast photo also doesn’t include The Glee Project Season 2 champ Blake Jenner. So in essence, our friends on Tumblr are the only ones to truly find an accurate Glee Season 4 cast photo. It’s funny because it’s true. All we know for sure is there will be a whole lot of people in a whole lot of places this coming season. And there’s no assurance that our past favorites like Santana, Brittany, Quinn et al will have much spotlight now that the next generation is on board.

Couple that with the fact that Murphy earlier promised Titanic-level drama for all of our favorite couples and it is fingernail biting time for all us poor, abused Gleeks.

“I’m not going to say who breaks up and who doesn’t, but they all – Santana/Brittany, Kurt/Blaine, Will/Emma, Rachel/Finn – get kicked in the nuts. And it’s all about how do they recover – and can they recover? And some don’t. Absolutely some don’t. Of those couples, not all of them are going to make it. It’s like Titanic.”
If Brittany and Santana end up floating on a door in the North Atlantic Ocean, I am going to be really, really pissed. But, hey, it’s Glee. Stranger things have happened. Remember when Will’s wife faked a pregnancy? Until Glee returns Sept. 13 on its new Thursday night, we’ll just have to calm our nerves with this picture AfterEllen.com Hot 100 two-time consecutive No. 1 hottie Naya Rivera all dressed up for her first video shoot. Wait, did I say calm? Well, at least you’re not feeling nervous anymore. So, thoughts?
