San Antonio-based trio Girl in a Coma have been compared to The Smiths (for their name) and to their mentor Joan Jett. While both comparisons aren’t too far off, they also give the impression that there’s nothing original about this band, which is not true, to say the least.
In their latest video, “Their Cell,” the women of Girl in a Coma trapse through an abandoned jail, accompanied by their perfected brand of mellow and rockabilly-infused indie rock.
