Morning Brew – Weds. April 4: Dani Shay on Season 2 of “The Glee Project,” Susan Sarandon remembers sleeping with Catherine Deneuve

Good morning! I have a bunch of stuff today, so let’s get into it.

Out singer Dani Shay made it to the final rounds of America’s Got Talent last year, but now she’s getting a second shot at TV fame as she’s been picked for Season 2 of The Glee Project. You can find her in the dead center of the photo.

The show premieres this summer, and Lea Michele is going to mentor the contestants on one episode.

Congrats to Shonda Rhimes on the adoption of her second child. How does she have the time for all of her babies? Three shows, one production company, two kids? That’s one busy woman.

Salon.com has an essay called “When I Finally Kissed a Girl.” Spoiler alert: A girl is kissed. The writer, Andra Askowitz, is the author of My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy.

indieWire has a look at the new Foxfire adaptation. I can’t wait to see how different it is from the ’90s version and have an excuse to watch that one again.

Catherine Denueuve was presented with a tribute night at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this past Monday, and her former The Hunger co-star Susan Sarandon told the audience, “I’m the only presenter to have actually slept with [her].” Then they were all treated to that very scene. I can hear the music!

TheLinster sent me this adorable new ad from Dallas Animal Services that features a lesbian couple. Lesbians love their pets! I mean, I’m obsessed with my pug, but you should already know that. (Do you need to see pictures? I can show you!)

An upcoming collaborative film called 7 Days in Havana has one whole “day” dedicated to a lesbian relationship. It appears to be “Friday,” which is a great day to be dedicated to lesbians, I think. (Thanks for the tip Niimo!)

Rachel Dratch has written a new book called Girl Walks Into a Bar and in it she writes she gets offered a lot of lesbian roles. She told The Huffington Post:

What I found was that I just kept getting offered parts for people that were morbidly obese or 65 years old or I was always getting offered lesbian parts. In the book, I make it very clear that I know that lesbians come in all varieties of hotness, but I was getting offered the more manly lesbian roles. I was not getting offered the lipstick lesbian roles.

That’s probably why we haven’t seen her in a Room in Rome type scenario. Apparently Hollywood thinks Rachel Dratch is a perfect butch.

ThinkProgress compares Lost Girl with Buffy, and both have their strengths, but Lost Girl‘s portrait of bisexuality puts it on top when it comes to the best representation of a woman’s sexuality.

I posted this on our Tumblr yesterday, but in case you haven’t seen it yet, Ellen Page is in the trailer for her new film, To Rome With Love.
