Afternoon Delight: “Lost Girl” renewed for a third season on Showcase, Rosie feuds with David Letterman

Good afternoon and happy Friday!

Happy birthday to Transamerica star Felicity Huffman, actress extraordinaire Dame Judi Dench (Notes on a Scandal) and AfterEllen.com’s own Heather Hogan! And happy belated birthday to out comedian Diana Yanez.

Noomi Rapace was all smiles at last night’s premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in London.

Actress Kim Wayans sat down with Indiewire to discuss the award-winning lesbian film Pariah.

Kill Bill actress Uma Thurman will appear in a five-episode arc on NBC’s upcoming musical show Smash. Thurman will play a “famous and somewhat difficult movie star who flirts with the idea of starring in Marilyn (a musical about Marilyn Monroe).” And if you’re a Kill Bill fan get ready because Kill Bill: Vol. 3 is set to hit the big screen in 2014! (2014? I could be dead by then!)

Rosie O’Donnell is publicly feuding with Late Night host David Letterman. Letterman poked fun at O’Donnell’s recent wedding announcement during his opening monologue of his show saying, “The woman she is marrying, her fiancĂ©e, was driving … and her car broke down. And guess what happened? Rosie pulls up right behind her in her tow truck.”

E! is reporting that on tonight’s The Rosie Show, O’Donnell snaps back saying, “Why is that Dave? Why? I don’t remember making fun of you when you had sex with all your interns! I didn’t do that. I didn’t make fun of your rampant, throbbing heterosexuality, did I Dave? Not only do you appear to be anti-gay, you’re anti-tow truck driver and that just pisses me off.” (I love how E! knows what’s going to happen before it happens. Does E! have a time machine? p.s. I’m pro-tow truck drivers.)

Good news, Lost Girl fans! The paranormal series has been renewed for a third season by the Canadian network Showcase. Showcase will air the Lost Girl midseason finale on Sunday, December 18 and production on season three will begin in spring 2012.

Speaking of the wonderful country of Canada, Canadian singer/actress Alanis Morissette will guest star on NBC’s Up All Night. Morissette will play a hip-hop legend named Amanda from Ava’s (Maya Rudolph) 1990s band Sound LLC. Morissette’s episode will air in early 2012.

Olivia Wilde looks adorable (as always) on the set of her upcoming film The Longest Week.

If you like fun in the sun then consider hanging out with me in the Bahamas. The eco-friendly Sweet Travel is setting sail for a short and sweet cruise February 17-20, 2012. (Note to self: Self, start working on your core and/or find a bikini with built in spanx.)
