Afternoon Delight: The Linda Lovelace biopic will wait on Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie talks love and rebellion in “Parade”

It’s been a full day since Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her 2007 probation, which is exactly enough time for all six billion humans on earth – and a variety of chimps and dolphins – to weigh in with their feelings on the subject. Among the bajillions was Matthew Wilder, director of the Linda Lovelace film Lohan is supposed to headline. The movie is set to begin production, but Wilder says he’s putting it on hold until Lindsay is out of jail.

This is a sad chapter in the ongoing tragicomic circus between the tabloid media and the ‘justice’ system. An outrageously outsized sentence garners attention for all the players involved, but brings only sadness to the poor soul who has to serve it. I am 100% behind Lindsay and can say the same for everyone involved in the production of Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story. Indeed, we are proud to have this remarkable artist work on our film.

Not moving on, not recasting, not under any circumstances.

Man, I wish her next film was going to be Mean Girls 2, and not a porn star biopic.

Angelina Jolie will be on this weekend’s cover of Parade, and the magazine has released one photo and some choice quotes from her interview.

On love:

I feel sad for someone who has never known love. Love elevates. You know, Brad would joke about me having this conversation about love. Love? It’s such a funny word. Brad can find certain phrases of poetry for it. I’m terrible at it. But I know it means wanting the best for the people you love, putting their interests above your own, always. Love does that. Love is what you live for.

On her past:

I used to cut myself or jump out of airplanes, trying to find something new to push up against because sometimes everything else felt too easy. I was searching for something deeper, something more. I tried everything. I always felt caged, closed in, like I was punching at things that weren’t there. I always had too much energy for the room I was in.

If you haven’t watched the trailer for Jolie’s new spy-flick, Salt, you should probably do that now:

I don’t care how many times she plays that role, I am so there.

I told you last week that CW has unveiled its fall programming schedule, and now we’ve got a first look at their two new shows. First up is Hellcats, also known as The One With The Lesbian Cheerleader.

And then there’s the badass new Nikita.

And while we’re on the subject, there are loads of papz shots coming out of Paris where Gossip Girl is filming right now, and I am going a particular brand of nuts over the ones of Ed Westwick and Clemence Poesy.

Chuck Bass and Fleur Delacour, what kind of unholy alliance have you formed?!

GLAAD has issued a call to action for The Today Show:

NBC’s Today Show is taking applications for its “Modern Day Wedding Contest” through Friday, July 9th. The winning couple will be awarded a wedding to be broadcast live on the Today Show in October and an all-expense paid honeymoon. Unfortunately, the network has set up rules that deny committed gay and lesbian couples the ability to participate.

You can read GLAAD’s full press release and find out how to contact NBC by visiting GLAAD.org.

Tonight, Logo will air its NewNowNext Icons documentary with Melissa Etheridge. Check out the clip below and tune in (or set your DVR) for midnight.

Today’s Afternoon Delight is brought to you by Emily Deschanel. (Ashley, are we good now?)
