The 2007 SXSW Festival (that’s South by Southwest to the uncool) ended this past Sunday. I’ve been skimming some blogs for the highlights. Here are a few:
1. It sounds like the Trucks were impressive. They definitely looked great — dig the tights or leotard or whatever!
Check out their MySpace page for some good tunes. I like “Why the” — nice use of bells on that one. Bells and whistling.
2. Great Northern, featuring Rachel Stolte, also charmed the crowds. Stolte’s voice reminds me of something or someone … sunshine, possibly. Some voices just make you wistful but happy, you know?
Visit Great Northern’s web site to hear some of their stuff. (Once you’re there, click the little blue guitar at the bottom of the main page to see more.) I recommend “Into the Sun.”
3. Michelle Shocked was there. I haven’t read any reviews of her show yet, but I like her, so this is a good excuse to promote “Anchorage.” This song is one of my favorites of hers.
Any SXSW stories to share?
