WACKy art

This weekend, an exhibition called WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art (or MOCA, as Bette would call it) in Los Angeles. WACK! “focuses on the crucial period 1965 80, during which the majority of feminist activism and artmaking occurred internationally.” It features the work of 120 artists hailing from all over the world and working in a wide range of media. After its debut at MOCA, the exhibition will travel to Washington, D.C., New York and Vancouver. There’s a “community-driven” site (the WACKsite) connected to the exhibition. And the catalogue cover is quite striking. Do you really need more incentive than that? If you don’t live in L.A. or one of the other cities listed, go to another museum or theater or something near you. These are treacherous times for arts funding: Support the troupes!
