Star Trek Gets Its First Female Director

Herstory was made this week in Hollywood, and it’s all good news! Variety reported Thursday that S.J.Clarkson will direct ‘Star Trek 4,’ making her the first female director in the franchise’s history. The movie studio revealed Thursday at CinemaCon that there will be a fourth film in the series, with Chris Hemsworth who appeared as Captain Kirk’s father in the 2009 reboot ‘Star Trek.’ Zachary Quinto is also reportedly set to return. ‘Star Trek’ grossed $385 million worldwide, while its sequel ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ tallied $467 million globally in 2013. The third film in the series, ‘Star Trek Beyond,’ brought in $343 million worldwide in 2016. Clarkson is best known for her work on TV shows, like ‘Dexter’ and ‘Orange is the New Black.’
