Women Win Big at 23rd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards

Women won big time at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards! Watch:

‘Big Little Lies’ was the biggest TV winner at Thursday’s 23rd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. The HBO drama picked up four awards, including best limited series. More importantly – for us anyway – Hulu’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ won for top drama series, and ‘Wonder Woman’ was named best action movie. Gal Gadot was presented with the #SeeHer award, a recognition for challenging gender stereotypes. Yeessss, Wonder Woman!

Speaking of The Handmaid’s Tale, we recapped most of season 1, if you want to read those before season 2 airs. Our sources confirmed the series’ second season is going to get even more grisly and intense, though we can’t see how that’s possible. Reading the original Margaret Atwood book may be in order.

Also, Amazon’s ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ won for top comedy series, another female win, though we haven’t checked out the show.

In other news, Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy romance, ‘The Shape of Water,’ was the top film winner with four awards, and James Franco, who was recently accused of sexual misconduct by five women, was notably absent to accept his award for best actor in a comedy.
