Shanta had just recently posted on her social media, “Some love stories change the world.” and now the story of her family is spreading further than she ever could have anticipated. The identity of the killer has not yet been determined by the police, but hopefully justice for the Myers/Mells family is swift and the love they shared for one another is remembered and spread to cause the change in the world Shanta hoped for. These striped onesies were brought by Santa from Roots, a Canadian leisure wear store. I actually shopped there while in Montreal with my wife in Boxing Day. After I saw this photo I scoured the store for a set of pajamas so that my wife and I could match our favorite couple, but sadly they did not have our sizes. Cher is rumored to headline 2018 Mardi Gras At 71 years old, LGBT ally Cher still doesn’t miss a step and hasn’t aged a damn day. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Cher has signed on to headline the Sydney Mari Gras festival for 2018. It’s the 40th anniversary of the celebration. Although Cher’s slated performance hasn’t been officially confirmed, but the icon may have let the cat out of the bag herself on Twitter, where she playfully asked where she was going in March.

The 30th annual Sydney Mari Gras was headlined by Cyndi Lauper, so Cher would continue a legacy of iconic singers who support LGBT rights headline this fabulous festival. This announcement follows shortly after marriage equality passed, so this year’s celebration will indeed be a major one!

Image via Twitter Space Dern Comments on the Potential LGBT Future of the Star Wars Franchise When Laura Dern was cast as Vice Admiral Holdo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, speculation swirled as to whether Dern’s character would be the franchise’s first openly bi character. The novel Leia: Princess of Alderaan fleshes out the backstory and longstanding relationship between Leia and Holdo, dropping several saucy nuggets of dialogue that imply Holdo might be bisexual.

In an interview with the LA Times, Dern addressed Holdo’s bisexual backstory and that indirect representation on screen:

I look forward to a character being deeply represented in terms of their sexuality. I know that none of us would have any problem, and only joy, if anybody wants to put [an LGBTQ identity] onto my character or any character in this film.
When asked about the future of queer representation in the franchise, she had this to say:
Most importantly, I do believe that this team of filmmakers will not rest until the LGBTQ community is deeply represented, and I don’t think that we would want Holdo to be where it stops, because it’s not clear, nor was it our intent. What I’m thrilled to say is, caring deeply about it and about everyone being honored and represented, I would never want to shy away from that if that was the goal.
Here’s Dern and the rest of the Last Jedi cast at the world premiere of the film.
