Lez Dish It Out! The AfterEllen Weekly Round-Up

Good morning all you lovely lezzies! I’m not going to lie to you, it was a slow news week for celesbians. But I knew I couldn’t leave you stranded on a Friday without your weekly fix so I dug, I dug deep.

This week, Cara Delingne looked gorgeous on the cover of Elle, Transparent returns for a fourth season with one of my favorite actresses, and I discovered something I didn’t know about St. Vincent. Lez get to it!

Cara Delevingne was on the cover of Elle magazine… and also she’s writing a book? Novelist is the furthest thing from my mind when I think of Cara Delevingne. And I’m going to be honest, when I read that she was writing a book, I had the same reaction I had when I found out she was going to be in a movie, and when she released a song. Oh, I guess she’s doing that now.

Regardless, she looked amazing on the cover of Elle because of course she did, she has her face. The interview was sweet and in it, she talks about the power of being alone which was hauntingly relatable. “Life is a beautiful mixture of wonderful disasters, but to truly love yourself is so important. Sometimes, you won’t be able to go to someone, so you need that strength in yourself to know you can carry on and be alright. To know you can reach out and talk to other people. There are misunderstandings and things go wrong, but don’t judge people. Try to understand each other, and try to see where other people are coming from.”

So despite her confusing performance in all the things she’s acted in, and that weird H&M music video, I might just give this book a try. If you want to know what the inside of Cara Delevingne’s head looks like, you can pre-order Mirror Mirror now and get a head start!

Tegan and Sara are doing an acoustic performance at Amoeba! I need you guys to know how much I love Tegan and Sara. I mean I try my best to incorporate them in every round up, so when they actually do things it just makes my job easier.

The duo announced that in celebration of the release of The Con X: Covers, they will be doing an acoustic show and signing at Amoeba in Hollywood on October 19th before doing two shows at The Theatre Ace Hotel in LA. You have to buy the album to get a signed poster and the proceeds got to the Tegan and Sara Foundation because they are beautiful wholesome human beings and we do not deserve them. The Con X: Covers is out October 20th. I can’t contain my excitement about Alia Shawkat in Transparent’s fourth season. Now I haven’t seen the new season yet, which was released last weekend. But I know Alia Shawkat is in it and I feel like I should be emotionally preparing myself because I love her with my whole gay heart. I mean I was already excited about the new season of the show despite the fact that the only lesbian couple got gay divorced, but knowing that Shawkat is going to be in it makes me want to cancel all the plans I’ve made this week so I can binge until my eyes hurt and I have no sense of time.

I know this makes me a bad gay, but just found out St. Vincent’s name is Annie Clark.

Disclaimer, yes I am writing about Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent in the same article. What can I say? I don’t shy away from controversy. I only found out her real name because she did this adorable little interview with W Magazine about her skincare routine. It’s part of her Tiffany & Co Campaign which also features Zoë Kravitz and Janelle Monáe. It was a short interview and honestly her answers weren’t even full sentences but they still felt deeply revelatory of the human condition. How does she do that? Kate McKinnon has a new girlfriend! I already wrote about the Emmy Kate won in last week’s LDIO (and other Emmy news, like Lena Waithe’s history-making win) and that her new lady, Jackie Abbott, was there to watch her shed tears of joy over her win for her awesomeness on SNL, but now there’s more info. After some mild internet stalking of Jackie Abbott (for reporting purposes!) we know for sure that she:

  1. Is a film, theater, and voiceover actor.
  2. Is an accomplished Argentine tango dancer
  3. Is absolutely STUNNING
  4. Is a talented photographer
  5. Is from Connecticut
Basically Jackie Abbott is a lesbian dream come true. Good for you, Kate!

That’s all I have for you! Please contact your local celesbian and tell her to do things so I can talk about it!
