Morning Brew – Amber Heard doesn’t care what you call her, she still fights for equality

Good morning!

The Utah judge who was trying to keep a lesbian couple from being able to keep their foster baby has reversed his order.

Also in Utah, the new lesbian mayor-elect is ready to have a chat with the Mormon church. Mostly because of reasons that are discussed in this Guardian piece about a Mormon lesbian couple who are faced with ex-communication if they get married.

The Times of India remembers all of the times women kissed and/or had relationships on Indian television.

Miley Cyrus posed quite queerly for CANDY magazine, and I’d like it better if it hadn’t been shot by Terry Richardson. Speaking of Miley, the LA LGBT Center has released part of her Vanguard Awards Acceptance speech.

Also, Lily Tomlin honoring bestie Jane Fonda.

It’s too bad they didn’t post the speeches in their entirety because they were all pretty motivating.

BBC Three aired a special on bisexuality and bi-curiosity (their words) called Tyger Takes On… How Straight Am I?

The Inquirer writes about late-in-life lesbians and bisexual women.

Amber Heard is on the cover of Marie Claire UK and, inside, she talks about being involved in the LGBT community and equality movement.

“No matter what people want to label me as, I still fight for equality, and I think popular opinion will catch up. I think it already has, actually. I think our generation sees themselves as part of a larger global community, and therefore, it’s harder to enact basic tribalistic prejudices based on ignorance and hate.”

The Independent’s annual Rainbow List is here. A few notables: Cara Delevingne is number seven, filmmaker Campbell X is 31, footballer Casey Stoney at 56, and Heather Peace dropping down to 80. I’m shocked Sue Perkins didn’t make it this time around.

People are upset with Raven-Symoné (again) for eating Chick-fil-A on The View.

Performance artist/musician Laurie Anderson married her artist friend Sophie Calle for funsies.

The Carol Facebook page posted a behind-the-scenes video from set. Related: Patricia Highsmith biographer Joan Schenkar wrote about the history of The Price of Salt/Carol for The New York Times.

ICYMI, Angela Bassett chatted about her role on American Horror Story: Hotel with HuffPost Live.

Johannesburg has something called the Feather Awards to celebrate the local LGBT community. Awards given include Diva Extraordinaire, Cutest Couple and Fag Hag of the year.
