Update: “Dead Like Me” movie casting news

Now that shooting for Dead Like Me is a wrap, MGM has released casting news for the movie. As expected, all the original cast is back except for Mandy Patinkin (Rube) and Laura Harris (Daisy Adair).

Ellen Muth returns as George Lass, who’s as comically cynical about death as she was about life. George narrates the movie, just as she did the series.

Replacing Laura Harris, who has a lead role in ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, as Daisy Adair is Sarah Wynter, perhaps best known as the perpetually shocked Kate Warner on season 2 of 24. (A trivia tidbit: Harris played Warner’s sister, Marie.)

Henry Ian Cusick, Desmond on Lost, plays a new character named Cameron, the head reaper who replaces Rube. Speculation that the movie includes a boyfriend for George’s sister, Reggie (Britt McKillip), has not been confirmed.

I can never get enough Cynthia Stevenson and I loved her character Joy, George’s mother, on Dead Like Me. I can’t wait to see her again.

And the fabulous Jasmine Guy returns as Roxy, the kick-ass meter maid you don’t want to face in traffic court. Watch her in action here.

As scribegrrrl reported earlier, the movie’s success could lead to a resurrected Dead Like Me series. All in favor, buy the DVD. It’s due next summer.
