On Wednesday at Wimbledon, Serena Williams came back from 4-1 in the first set to beat Australia’s Alicia Molik 7-6, 6-3.
Williams moves on to the third round, thanks to what she calls “the angry Serena”:
“The angry Serena is very crazy to say the least,” she said. “Sometimes she comes out.”
It’s almost like she hulks out, really. TMZ.com is calling Williams’ arms “super-bionic,” but I think they’re more hulk-tastic:
Guess we know she’s a rightie — it’s, like, twice the size! Want a close-up? I do:
Just … wow. Whether or not that arm is “enhanced” by technology or whatever else, it’s as unnatural as it can be, in the way that fantastically awesome supreme things are unnatural. I love it.
In an interview talking about her performance at Wimbledon so far, Williams mentions defending champ Amelie Mauresmo, acknowledging that Mauresmo is being somewhat “overlooked” this year. Mauresmo has her second-round match today (it’s in progress as I type this), and she’s looking lethal in her own way:
And now I’m done looking for excuses to post pictures of tennis players. Mostly because I have to go set my DVR.
