‎Christina Ricci gets naked for the press

Christina Ricci seems to love naked discussion. It all started when she was promoting the United States release of Black Snake Moan back in March. Then, she told Entertainment Weekly about how she would stay in character — and without clothes — on set.

“Sam [co-star Samuel L. Jackson] would be like, ‘Put some clothes on!’ ‘I was like, ‘No, you don’t understand. I’m doing something important.‘”

Uh, taking off your clothes is important? Well, maybe to bathe. Or to swim. Or to participate in other extracurricular activities. But on a film set, I’m pretty sure the only people who think it’s important are the gaffers and production assistants who finally get to see a piece of the action, so to speak.

Now, just in time for the United Kingdom release Friday of the Southern gothic howler, Christina is back with the naked talk. She told the Mirror about her refusal to re-robe.

“I didn’t cover up between shots because I had to get used to being like that and get into the way (my character) was thinking. It didn’t matter to her whether she had clothes on or not, so I needed to lose any self-conscious affectations.”

Oh, Christina. I realize you were just working some method acting mojo. But did you have to bring it up to the press again? You know once we hear “naked” it’s all over but the drooling. Plus this little tidbit — true as it may be — screams of a quiet desperation and last-ditch plea to build buzz around a movie that black-hole bombed stateside.

I’ve liked Christina and her platter-sized forehead since she was that wee morbid delight Wednesday Addams. Since then she has been in an eclectic array of films, some better than others, but usually interesting choices at the very least. And while I certainly have no objection to Christina Ricci being naked, Christina Ricci talking about being naked kind of kills the mood. What can I say — I’m an actions-speak-louder-than-words kind of gal.
