Morning Brew – Wed. March 27: Strap-on sex on “The Bad Girls Club,” Christine Quinn is fine being a bitch

Good morning!

Rapper/poet Black Ice recorded his own version of the famous protest song “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” and it’s used in a promo for the Angela Davis documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners. I can’t wait to see this April 5. Until then, the video is pretty awesome.

The New York Times has written a piece on NYC mayoral candidate Christine Quinn on how she can be a little ruthless. Quinn said:

I don’t think being pushy or bitchy or tough, or however you want to characterize it, is a bad thing. New Yorkers want somebody who’s going to get things done. Sometimes I yell, sometimes I raise my voice. I am trying to do it less, because it’s not always attractive. It’s not always the right thing to do.

Bitches get shit done, OK!?

If you’ve been watching The Bad Girls Club: Atlanta, then you know that bad girl Rocky has fallen for local stud Rice (real name Brittany) despite not having ever slept with girls before. Rocky has a boyfriend who came to visit this week, but she couldn’t stop thinking about Rice, and there was an actual strap-on scene this week. Oxygen is running a poll to see who fans think Rocky should choose, Rice or her boyfriend, Moses, and so far, Rice is winning by a landslide.

A writer from The Independent decided to try out being a drag king and wrote a great piece on working kings and the scene in London. I need to get over to their Female Masculinity Appreciation Nights very soon.

In an interview with Stylist UK, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) had this funny exchange with the female reporter:

Q. I’m going to quote from a fan site now: “I’m very attracted to this woman right now. Very, very attracted. As in I need her in my bed RIGHT NOW.”

Gwendoline: What?! [Laughs] Did you write that? Well, maybe as a little treat I might consider it…

Q. How does it make you feel when you hear that sort of adoration?

Gwendoline: It’s not me though, that’s the thing, it’s her. It’s Brienne. But that’s thrilling. It’s challenging what’s attractive and what counts as femininity. It’s completely enlightening.

I ship myself and Brienne of Tarth. That fan quote was all me on my Game of Thrones Tumblr site.

Wendi McClendon-Covey is back as lesbian mom Pam tonight on Modern Family. Of course she’s wearing flannel.
