Morning Brew – Mon. Nov. 26: Lindsay Lohan on her relationship with Sam Ronson, lesbian Republicans in “The New York Times”

Good morning! I hope you all had a nice long weekend.

Lindsay Lohan spoke with Us Weekly about her relationship with Samantha Ronson.

Two toxic people cannot be together. End of story. We’re friends now. That’s how it started so I think that’s how it was meant to be. I was bold enough to say, “Yeah I like a girl. And?” That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. That’s not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak. That was three years ago. It was my last serious relationship.

And now Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” is in my head.

Calgary Stampeder Jon Cornish has two moms, and one of them is an Anglican priest. Pretty rad.

Jeanette Winterson wrote about the importance of libraries over at The Guardian. She writes:

The wealthy will have books and access to books. The best universities will keep their magnificent libraries to be visited by those who can afford the fees. Is it downloads for everyone else? I want books to be visible. Hold a book in your hands and it is more than its content. Books as objects matter.

I agree. Books are the bomb.

The New York Times found some Republican lesbians. It’s an interesting read and that’s all I’ll say about that!

Last week College Humor released a video of gay guys threatening to marry straight women if gay marriage doesn’t become legal. This week, some lesbians made a video threatening to marry straight dudes.

Carla Bruni supports gay marriage, and we support her being hot. It’s a win/win.

Dorothy Allison spoke with The Chicago Tribune about Bastard Out of Carolina and how it became a banned book. She said she doesn’t mind.

Some of my favorite writers have been banned, and for generally the same reasons. For being too dangerous, too provocative, too explicit, writing about violence, writing about sexuality. But writing is supposed to be dangerous. My assumption when I began writing was that you were never going to make any money. And you were never going to reach everyone. Therefore you had to do as much as you could in the service of something you genuinely believed in. And if you do that and people get upset, well, there you go.

Newsweek has a piece on India’s gay community. There is a travel group trying to bring more LGBT tourists to the country as well. Times, they are a changin’.
