Morning Brew – Wed. Nov. 21: Brandi Carlile on being able to be legally married, Fimogen go to Vegas

Good morning!

Because it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow, we’ll be taking the day off. But the good news is we have a massive gift guide for you we’re posting on Friday, so make sure to come back then. p.s. I’m thankful you all come to AfterEllen.com and read my Morning Brews.

Fiona and Imogen are headed to Las Vegas, ya’ll! But my question is, are any of these kids old enough to gamble?

Jillian Michaels was on The Jeff Probst Show yesterday and told a cute story of how she met partner Heidi Rhodes. She was also interviewed in Parenting magazine this month, where she says her favorite kid toy is the iPad. To be Jillian Michaels’ kid!

Melissa Etheridge talks about her new album with Spinner and says she’s playing guitar better than ever.

Ruby Rose has joined Stand Up 2 Bullying, an initiative to, well, stand up to bullying. While speaking to a group at a Sydney school, she told kids she’d once been “brutally attacked with a metal chair while 50 students looked on” because she was gay. That’s terrible. I hope they all feel ashamed now. Living well is the best revenge, Ruby!

Brandi Carlile said she was so thrilled to hear when Washington passed Referendum 74, especially since she just got married.

It feels tremendous to see that in my lifetime. If you had told me that when I was a teenager and struggling, I wouldn’t have believed it.

She told The Seattle Times she met wife Catherine Shepherd in 2009 and that they now live in Maple Valley with “goats, chickens, a horse, a dog and a cat.” Sounds blissful! Here they are with volunteers from the Fairbanks Food Bank, which Brandi’s Looking Out Foundation sponsored while on tour. Do-gooders!

Speaking of Seattle musicians, check out Sera Cahoone.

The Huffington Post has a hot gallery of women with pompadours. Something to be thankful for!

Tegan and Sara performed “Closer” on The Late Show with David Letterman last night.
