Morning Brew – Wed. August 29: Kaya Scodelario on Naomily, Ester Dean plays a lesbian in “Pitch Perfect”

Good morning!

How about that Pretty Little Liars finale? I’m going to be honest and say I didn’t see it coming.

Singer/songwriter Ester Dean plays a lesbian in the new musical film Pitch Perfect.

Here she is performing “No Diggity” with her castmates in a clip from the film.

Get it girl!

Photographer Tatjana Plitt is working on compiling portraits of LGBTQ military couples, “either in their bedrooms or a location of historical military/activist/personal significance.” She’ll be shooting in will be shooting in Washington DC, Maryland and New York this fall/winter, so if you are part of a military couple and are interested in being a part of history, shoot her an email!

Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as a trucker named Rainbeaux in the new film 18 Wheel Butterfly on the run. Deadline reports her character “is an adorable gear-grindin’ female trucker is accused of a crime that she did not commit and must outrace the law, brother truckers, feds and bounty hunters in the in the Texas bubble gum, redneck chic summer of 1977.” Now if she is a lesbian, this will be the coolest movie ever to exist.

EW has a deleted scene from last season’s Grey’s Anatomy and it’s all about Arizona. Unfortunately it’s not in a shower with Callie.

The upcoming Glee season has yet another Britney Spears episode and exec producer Brad Falchuk tells TvLine it’s going to be even better than the first one.

It’s one of the funniest episodes we have done. Brittany is having some troubles and Will and Emma come up with a plan to [cheer her up].

Female troubles?

Yesterday I shared a lesbianish zombie music video with you. Today, I have another one. I’m not even kidding. This one is from Screaming Females.

In the fall issue of Wonderland magazine, Kaya Scodelario talks Skins and True Love. On Naomily:

..[with] the lesbian storyline with Lily [Loveless] and Kat [Prescott], they had so many young girls come up to them and say because of them they had the courage to come out. You look at things like that and that’s gotta outweigh all the negative stuff by a mile.

And on romancing Billie Piper on-screen:

It was all improvised, there’s no script. You hear about me and Billie’s storyline and think, “Oh, lesbians,” but it’s not about that, it’s about the connection of two people. Yes there’s an age difference, yes they’re the same sex but you don’t focus on that. It was me wanting to push myself, having to tell my Nan that I was playing a lesbian. She was actually really cool about it. I was like, “Go Nan!”
