Morning Brew – Wed. June 13: “Dyke Hard – A Lesbian Rock ‘n Roll Musical” needs your help, Emily Blunt on “My Summer of Love”

Morning!

I’m so psyched to go see Sarah Jaffe tonight in Portland. It’ll help me get over last night’s Glee Project.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has created a video for Pride Month. She’s like “Love who you love!” And I’m like “I will!”

The good news: Silent Valley is described as a South Indian lesbian thriller. The bad news? I can’t tell if this description means they are the good guys or the bad guys.

The movie is about two honeymooners who are entrapped by two women during their trip to a valley. Rithu Mangal and Agatha Magnes play the lesbian couple. The film has been shot in the beautiful locales at Wagamon and Kuttikkanam, and is due for release soon.

Hoping they are the honeymooners.

Emily Blunt said that doing My Summer of Love prepared her for the heavy improv work she had to do in Your Sister’s Sister:

It was my first movie and I didn’t know what I was doing and it was all improv. I did learn on that how extraordinary the moments are that you can capture, and I remember moments on that film where it was like the air shifted in the room because, with your costar or director, you manage to create a moment that is so raw. You would never get that in a scripted movie and I think I was desperate to have that again. So when [director] Lynn [Shelton] approached me about this it seemed really appealing and necessary.

I had no idea My Summer of Love was mostly improv. I’ll have to go back and rewatch it now.
