Morning Brew – Mon. June 11: Amber Heard leaves “Motor City,” Shailene Woodley on “Secret Life” and sexuality

Good morning!

Newlyweds Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni looked lovely together at the Tony Awards last night.

Amber Heard is no longer part of Motor City. It sounds like it was just taking too long to get the film together. (Gary Oldman dropped out, too.) But don’t worry — she’s still working on Machete Kills.

If you watched True Blood last night, you and I are friends. Also, you should know by now that Rutina Wesley is still part of the show. Tara isn’t going anywhere, thankfully, but she’s not interested in romance right now. But in this TVLine interview, she explains why she’s likely still interested in both men and women. I’d include the quote but it’s kind of spoilery if you haven’t watched the episode yet.

Tabatha Coffey was on The Talk last Friday and delivered some summer hair tips.

Shailene Woodley says her character on Secret Life is definitely straight, but the confusion about everyone on the show’s sexuality on the past couple of episodes isn’t uncommon.

But it seems there’s a time in everyone’s life when they question their sexuality, whether it’s for a millisecond or a few days, and that was just the writers’ way of artistically representing that moment.

Shailene’s on-screen gay mom, Molly Ringwald, will be on The Talk today and I’m betting she’ll be talking about something similar.

If you’re traveling this summer and looking for a gay-friendly place to stay, the Marriott is launching a new LGBT-focused ad campaign. Consider supporting them!
