Morning Brew – Wed. June 6: A look at Kaya Scodelario and Billie Piper in “True Love,” Brandi Carlile covers “Paste”

Hi all!

If you’re a fan of Queer as Folk (I am!), the cast are going to reunite for the Rise N Shine convention in Germany. So if you love Mel and Lindsay, you might want to make the trip.

Sarah Paulson has joined the cast of Twelve Years a Slave, a historical drama about “the true life events of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was living in New York in the 1840s when he was duped into taking a job in Washington, D.C. only to be kidnapped and forced into manual labor on a Louisiana plantation.” Sarah will play a “jealous wife” but she rocks at every role so I’m sure she’ll be awesome, per usual.

Howard Bragman and E! are developing a scripted TV show about a Hollywood publicist. Howard is known for working with closeted gay artists who want to come out (like Chely Wright) so that should be interesting!

IndieWire has compiled a list of 43 LGBT Films to watch during Pride month. Yeah, they are mostly about dudes and I wouldn’t necessarily say that Monster gives me Pride, but give it a look if you want something to watch.

And here’s another Pride film celebration, from Focus Features.

We finally get a look at True Love, the BBC show that stars Billie Piper and Kaya Scodelario in a student/teacher relationship. Yeah, it looks pretty hot.

Check out Brandi Carlile on the cover of this month’s Paste magazine. Loving the vest.
