Morning Brew – Tues. June 5: “Lost Girl” creator talks Season 3, play with Ellen Page in “Beyond”

Good morning!

I went and saw Snow White and the Huntsman last night and I can confirm that Kristen Stewart was hottest in armor and fighting for her people.

Check this out! Ellen Page leant her likeness and her voice to the new Playstation game Beyond. The character, Jodie, is a woman who connects with an invisible entity and knows what exists beyond our human lives. Jodie kicks some major ass, as you can see in this clip released at E3 yesterday.

Thanks to my pal Christin, I have some reality TV show casting scoop for you! “A major cable network” is casting for a new dating series that is “looking for beautiful, confident and empowered women who are equally attracted to both genders.” Specifically, they want “modern women who break the mold when it comes to dating and do not pick their partners based on gender.” Sound like you? Send an email to [email protected] and include your name, contact info, location, several recent photos of you, your best friends and “a description of why this dating show is right up your alley.”

I don’t know why Dr. Drew entertains people like Janet Boyles on his CNN show, but it’s important to know your enemies.

Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic talked with The Daily Telegraph about how female sexuality is much easier for American audiences to accept than male-on-male sexuality, like that of her bandmates.

It is much easier to swallow the pill of gay rights when it is packaged in the form of a pretty girl. I think at the heart of it lies a fear of male sexuality, and especially male homosexuality, that is threatening in many ways. On morning television they showed the famous kiss between Britney Spears and Madonna but when they switched to Adam Lambert [kissing a male dancer on TV], they blurred it out. So it’s fine to show hot chicks kissing but if it’s a couple of guys, it’s going to ruin our children.

It’s so true, Ana. We’re all going to ruin the children! Taking over the world, one kiss at at time.

SyFy has renewed Lost Girl for its third season, which means we’ll get to see the new episodes January of next year. The show’s creator, Michelle Lovretta, talked with The Huffington Post about what we can expect.

Lemme just say this: Can a succubus ever truly be monogamous? Even if she wants to? … [I hope to take this show] Into a world where a bisexual protagonist is non-news. I’m so proud of the comedic ambitions of Lost Girl, that it’s dedicated genre [fare] that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but I also love exploring the shades of gray; the moral ambiguity of characters who may live forever and their relationships with mortals who will not. I’m also obsessed with the different cultures, politics — the rules of the Light Fae vs. the Dark. These are worlds I would feel lucky to play in for years.

And, yes, there will be “more sex.” With Lauren, we hope.
