Morning Brew – Wed. May 9: A pic of Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace in “Passion,” Linda Perry on “The Talk”

Hello!

I’m so sad to report that North Carolina voted against us last night and are amending their state constitution to define marriage between one man and one woman. Raleigh native Evan Rachel Wood expressed her sadness over the outcome on Twitter:

We just have to keep working at equality, unfortunately, and this is a reminder.

Shonda Rhimes told The New York Times that she never hears outrage from anyone against the Calzona relationship. She did, however, hear from a lot of gay women.

The only outcry she recalled came when one of the doctors, Arizona, flirted with a man. “It was from lesbians who said, ‘How dare she sleep with a man!'”

Who, us? Oh yes. That sounds exactly like something we would do. The bigger piece is called “Gay on TV – — It’s All in the Family” and is about how far we’ve come with LGBT representation on television. A long way from when the producer of Ellen wanted to put a parental advisory about “adult content” of her lesbian kiss before the show aired, that’s for sure.

The Washington Post profiled out singer Jennifer Knapp, who says she’s happy with her life and her girlfriend, despite all those who tried to bring her down when she came out.

When I came out, I didn’t expect how much it hurt my heart that people assumed the experience I had as a person of faith had never mattered and didn’t exist. I realized (the Christian faith) was an integral part of my life when it was assumed that it wasn’t.

Someone please alert the masses you are allowed to be gay and religious. Jennifer Knapp is tired of explaining it.

Similarly, Jessie J is tired of talking about her bisexuality. She tells Company:

The bisexual label irritates me. They’d never write “Adele — the straight singer,” but that’s how the world works. The only thing I want to be defined by is my music and personality.

That’s true, JJ, but Adele has yet to come out as straight, so therefore I cannot just make that assumption. That would be wrong to out her like that.

Brooke Vincent misses Sacha Parkinson being on the set of Coronation Street. Us too!

There was some lesbian wedding planning on the BBC’s A Civil Arrangement this week. Thanks to Ruby for the tip!

Why does Lindsay Lohan’s mouth look so weird to me in these photos from her appearance on Glee?

I am so ready for this movie, you guys! Brian De Palma’s Passion is a remake of the French film Love Crime, which was sexy in itself. the new version stars Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace in a very lesbianish thriller. McAdams plays Rapace’s overbearing boss who tries to use sex to have power over her. Yes please!

Linda Perry was on The Talk yesterday where she performed “Beautiful” and “Letter to God” and then pimped An Evening With Women. Here are some clips:

Cat Cora’s new show, Around the World in 80 Plates, premieres on Bravo tonight. She was on Watch What Happens Live last night to promote the show and she was as beautiful as ever. On the after show, she says what male celebrity she’d dip into the “man pool” with. Then she gives her very steamy Real Housewives tagline.
