Morning Brew – Tues. May 1: Crystal Chappell will kiss her wife on “Bold and the Beautiful,” Betty DeGeneres’ regret about Ellen

Morning!

Good news: The Bold and the Beautiful‘s executive producer/head writer Bradley Bell told TV Guide that of course Crystal Chappell will kiss her on-screen lover when she comes on the show. From the interview:

Karen and Danielle are a modern married couple, so why wouldn’t they kiss? We plan to discuss the real issues, present some prejudices, and try to get people to move forward in their thinking, instead of backward. I want to do this story because I listen to all the political debates on the subject of same-sex marriage and can’t believe I share the same country with people who think so differently about human rights. I want to put my hat in the ring and, hopefully, help change some thoughts and opinions on the issue.

This might be the first time I’m not ashamed to say I watch this show, daily.

Aubrey O’Day won a project on Celebrity Apprentice this week, which means her charity of choice, GLSEN, received $50,000. Awesome, until she made some eyeroll-worthy statements about competitor Arsenio Hall:

Arsenio is the biggest girl on this show, so I don’t know why he doesn’t like tap dancing or wearing cheerleading outfits. We all know he does it at home.

Face, meet palm.

Out reality star Rachel Robinson will be teaching girls her workout plan during Aqua Girl (May 2-6 in South Beach) this year. She told the Miami Herald:

“The gay men’s community is definitely healthier than the women’s. There are so many more parties where they’re ripping off their shirts. I can’t tell you how many gay men are training for a particular pool party. The lesbian community definitely needs more programs centered around fitness and health.

I’m sure there are some girls that train for the Dinah or their local Black Bra party – maybe they just aren’t ripping their shirts off in public.

The Guardian profiled Jenna Lyons, the out creative director of J.Crew. She talks about being a misfit growing up, but how her subscription to Vogue and making a skirt in home economics class helped her to discover her passion for fashion. Jenna was in the news this winter for leaving her husband for another woman. She told the paper:

It has been hard, you know? But I will say, through everything, I realise how incredibly fortunate I am. Everyone has been so supportive and understanding; my friends and colleagues have all been amazing. It’s certainly been one of the more confusing times of my life, but I’m getting through it.

So go ahead; spend your money at J.Crew!

Bossip has created a list of the “Craziest Celebrity Lesbian Rumors of All Time.” However, I have to say that the one about Michelle Rodriguez isn’t as crazy as they’d have you believe.

Betty DeGeneres talked with The Boston Globe about being the mom of the most famous lesbian of all time. The only thing she regrets is not having more photos of her daughter.

Well, if I had known she was going to grow up to be Ellen Degeneres, I would have taken more pictures (laughing), so take a lot of pictures! Ellen’s brother is three years older and, oh, do we have pictures of him! Ellen gives me a hard time all the time because we don’t have that many pictures of her.

Well, she certainly takes a lot of pictures now.

Speaking of Ellen, Snakkle has a gallery of 15 celebrities that have come out since Ellen took the public plunge 15 years ago.

Chloe Mortez is psyched to be working with out director Kimberly Peirce on the Carrie remake. She told ComingSoon:

It’s going to be very well done. I don’t want to jinx it, but [Peirce] is a genius, genius, genius director. I would never do it with someone that I don’t trust. I trust her more than a lot of the directors I’ve worked with. She’s the right woman for the job.

Ebony interviewed Patrik-Ian Polk, the guy behind Noah’s Arc and the new LGBT film The Skinny, which has a lesbian character. He told the mag he’s actually working on two sequels for the film and that he thinks Pariah is going to help black gay stories come out into the mainstream:

I certainly hope that the success of Dee Rees and other filmmakers like her encourages just more: Encourages Hollywood to make more of these projects, encourages more filmmakers to make these projects. I mean any real success like that is only helpful to the next person. I just hope more of our projects can find an audience because the industry pays attention to numbers a whole lot, so if you can show a clear track record then you can establish that there is an audience for these projects so that more people can make them.

I hope so, too! And maybe Tyler Perry will put a lesbian in a movie once in a while.

UK celeb Stephanie Davis retweeted a pic of her kissing a gal pal, which automatically tells me it wasn’t an intimate moment that just happened to be caught on camera.

Who sang Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” the best? Rachel and Jesse from Glee are up against Vicci Martinez from The Voice. Listen to all five renditions and then vote. And then never get the song out of your head.

Don’t read this interview with Harriet Braun if you haven’t watched the latest episode of Lip Service yet! If you have, and you want answers, then go ahead.

Well now if only the song wasn’t called “Lesbian Seagull.” It appears that two female swans in Boston have struck up a courtship. Maybe they saw Black Swan and decided to give it a go.
