Morning Brew – Thurs. April 12: Crystal Chappell to play a lesbian on “Bold and the Beautiful,” Jessie J on her sexuality

Morning!

You know how some women get cast as lesbians and then are forever called up when a network is like “We need someone to play gay. Go get that girl who has done it before!” Crystal Chappell is that woman for soap operas. She’s joining the cast of Bold and the Beautiful as one of Caroline’s moms. This is my soap, guys, so I’ll be seeing how it all goes down when Crystal shows up as Karen’s (Joanna Johnson) boo mid-May.

Room in Rome‘s Elena Anaya has been cast as a femme fatale ex-girlfriend to Oscar Isaac in the action filmInertia. indieWire hopes she is more than just the pretty face of the film, and I agree wholeheartedly. She should also be the hot body.

Hot Cop Sam has some things to say in this Lip Service video. I wasn’t really listening. I was too busy thinking about her lips. Aren’t they what the show was named for?

AlterNet has a piece about a girl coming out as bisexual in a small town and the support she received from her mom. Aw.

French actress Lizzie Brocheré has joined the cast of American Horror Story as “Gia, a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot” who is likened to Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted. Gia? Angelina? Sexual? If she’s not at least a little gay, I’m coming after you, Ryan Murphy.

Tomboy will be on Video on Demand and on iTunes April 24. I highly recommend it!

Jessie J discussed her bisexuality with Glamour magazine and how she’s too busy to date anyone right now.

The frustrating thing is that if I was with a guy right now, I’d be [considered] straight. But if I was with a girl, I’d be “gay.” When I was with my ex-girlfriend, I used to take her around and say, “This is my girlfriend.” People would be comfortable with it because I was. That’s what annoys me about the media. I’ve never tried to make [my sexuality] something that’s going to put me in newspapers or magazines. I’m never, ever going to let it be something that sells my music. Sexuality shouldn’t define you. It should be part of who you are. At the moment I’m single, and I’m happy and learning about myself. Music is the love of my life right now.
