Frenching Belinda Carlisle

According to the blog Stuck In The ’80s, Belinda Carlisle will release a new CD, Voila, in February 2007. But don’t be so quick to whip out your leggings–it’s a tribute album to French pop music from the 1940’s-1960’s, to be produced by John Reynolds and featuring Brian Eno.

Stuck reports, “The instrumentation and arrangements are soothing and beautiful. Carlisle tackles the lyrics with energy and passion. Go-Go’s fans likely won’t recognize her voice, which sounds fuller and deeper on many tunes, particularly the trance-like ‘Avec Le Temps.’ Other standout numbers include ‘Ma Jeunesse Font Le Camp’ and ‘La Vie En Rose.'”

My most memorable Belinda moment was when she unveiled her new solo video “Mad About You” (and hot new body) on MTV my senior year of high school.

It was a momentary distraction from my obsessive repeat viewings of Stevie Nicks’s “Stand Back” and Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” (Tawny Kitaen! Before the assault charges!).

But I wasn’t gay or anything. Not me.
