“Orphan Black” recap (4.07): Boys want to be her, girls want to be her

In the suburbs, Alison is arranging flowers, trying to find the words to express her condolences to Mrs. S, but she’s breaking, too. She gets down on her knees and prays for something to come along and give them some much-needed hope.

Betcha wish you didn’t quit drinking now.

Donnie comes in and tells her that she should cancel Gemma’s sleepover, but Alison wants to try to keep up the normal facade as long as possible for her kids.

On the probably-not-really-Island of Dr. Moreau, Rachel is angry that Susan wants to give into Evie’s terrorism. But Susan is despondent. She says Neolutionism goes back to an industrialist who created a scientific secret society. She’s talking like it’s over, but Rachel won’t hear it. She says they can still find a cure; they’ve already done miraculous things for Rachel’s non-Leda-related injuries. But Susan is sure that Evie has won.

Felix goes to the safehouse to be with Mrs. S when Kira tells him that her mum left. Felix is sure she’ll be back, but Kira and Mrs. S aren’t so positive. So Uncle Felix promises to find her and bring her back. She’s the glue of this family—sestras included—and they can’t do this without her.

Though Sarah is currently becoming unglued, taking shots and hallucinating Beth at a local pub.

Or seeing double, it’s anyone’s guess.

At the Rabbit Hole, the comic dude tells them that the computers are totally wiped, and Cosima is bummed that they’re back at square one. Scott says to think outside the box, and Dude tells her to listen to her lab partner, but Cosima snaps and says, “Yeah well she’s dead, too.” Which, understandably, hurts Scott’s feelings. He’s been there from the beginning; he’s in this with her. But she’s in pain, and she’s lashing out.

I do the same thing, girl. It’s okay.

But then Cosima remembers that she does still have one card up her sleeve: the maggotbot they took out of Sarah.

Evie meets with a doctor, the CEO of Bright Born, I believe, and they’re excited, they think they won. Evie has shingles, but she’ll be getting the newest gene therapy maggotbot prototype soon, and she’ll be good as new. They share evil grins and terrible smiles, and maybe they believe they’re doing good but really all they’re doing is playing God, which never ends well.
