For a show about one of the topics people least like to talk about, the cast of The Big C sure is worth talking up. The new Laura Linney Showtime series just added out actress Cynthia Nixon to its already stellar lineup.
The Sex and the City star will join the show in a recurring role as Rebecca, the flaky former college roommate of Laura’s character Cathy. Hmm, is that roommate or roommate? Either way, it should be spectacular to see Laura and Miranda together on screen. She joins Gabourey Sidibe, who will also appear in a recurring role as a smart-alecky student of Cathy’s.
The series follows what happens when Cathy, a suburban wife and teacher, is diagnosed with cancer and decides to drastically reassess her life. It’s trailer makes it look funny, another thing you don’t normally say about the c-word.
Flaky will be something new for Cynthia. She has spent the past dozen years playing the no nonsense Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City. So it will be fun to see her loosen up and be loopy.
The Big C premieres Aug. 16 on Showtime. What do you think of the Cynthia’s addition? Will you be watching?
